My Journey into the Cleaning Industry
Long before I understood the word entrepreneurship, I was already practicing responsibility.
Growing up as a teenager in a Nigerian home, domestic chores were not optional. Cleaning the house, organizing spaces, and ensuring things were in order were simply part of daily life. At the time, it felt like routine family responsibility — nothing extraordinary.
Fast forward a few years, I graduated with a degree in Microbiology from the university and began my professional journey. After completing NYSC, I secured my first job at a medical diagnostic centre. Later on, I moved into the corporate world, working with companies in the oil & gas and insurance sectors in Apapa, Lagos.
I truly loved the corporate environment — the structure, the professionalism, and yes… the suits and heels.
While working, I also decided to upgrade my knowledge by pursuing a second degree in Health Management through the Open University. But life sometimes introduces unexpected turns.
The company I was working with experienced a major setback that eventually led to the withdrawal of its operating license. Many employees suddenly found themselves relying on personal savings to survive.
Like many professionals at the time, I had to rethink my next move.
I transitioned into the insurance sector because I still loved the corporate environment. But something else happened that quietly changed the direction of my life.
I received an invitation to attend an entrepreneurship conference.
What I learned there opened an antenna in my mind.
During one of the sessions, I realized something powerful:
I had been solving a certain everyday problem for years… but I had never seen it as something that could be monetized.
At that time, many people living on Lagos Island were extremely busy professionals. Household support services were becoming high-value and in demand.
That realization sparked something in me.
I immediately began researching the market, understanding service gaps, and getting the necessary training to professionalize what had once been seen as just “domestic work.”
Then something incredible happened.⏬️
